Insurance Concerns:
Dr. Melamed welcomes all clients to the office. The practice is not "CLOSED" to anyone! Certain insurance companies do not contract with this office. The important factor to realize is that Medical Insurance is a contract between the Client/Patient and the Insurance Company regarding the financial responsibility for payment for medical services provided by a doctor, or other medical facility.
All too often, there is confusion regarding insurance benefits for different services that the office provides. The most common questions include:
1. Whether a Routine Annual Physical/Checkup is a covered benefit? 2. Is there a Co-pay for the visit? 3. Is there a Deductible, and does this apply to the Physical or only to visits for specific symptoms? 4. Whether the plan is PPO, HMO, or POS?
Our office staff will be happy to assist you by calling your insurance company to clarify these issues. Many insurance companies have different plans and some of these plans cover preventative care including Annual Physicals, and others do not. Furthermore, certain plans cover the Physical with no deductible, even though there may be a deductible which may apply to other services. Finally, certain plans will fully pay for the clinical examination by a physician, but will apply the deductible for routine laboratory and radiology services. Thus, the best way to prevent surprises is to be well informed.
Please note that payment is appreciated at the time services are rendered.
